A West African Tasting Menu London Experience

At the Table is Chef Dumebi’s West African tasting menu London experience, an intimate evening built around a changing six-course menu exploring the ingredients, dishes, techniques and food stories of West Africa.

It is a space to cook creatively, explore new ideas and tell some of the stories that sit behind the food. The menu moves across West Africa, drawing inspiration from familiar dishes, regional ingredients, street food, home cooking, travels and memories. Some flavours will be immediately recognisable. Others may arrive in a form you were not expecting.

This is Translation, Not Fusion.

West African food, through a different lens

West African cuisine is vast.

There is so much beyond the handful of dishes that have become internationally familiar. At the Table gives Chef Dumebi room to explore that breadth, from fermented ingredients and grains to vegetables, seafood, spices, sauces and the different ways food is cooked and shared across the region.

Each menu begins with something familiar: an ingredient, a dish, a place, a technique or a memory.

From there, we build.

The result is a tasting menu that remains connected to where the food comes from while allowing technique, curiosity and creativity to take it somewhere new.

The tasting menu

Guests are served six courses, beginning with smaller bites and moving through vegetables, fish or meat, grains and dessert.

Menus change between editions and may be influenced by seasonality, what is available and what Chef Dumebi is currently exploring in the kitchen.

You won't necessarily know everything that is coming before you arrive.

That is part of At the Table.

More than dinner

At the Table is intentionally small.

This isn't a large restaurant service. It is an opportunity to sit closer to the food, the chef and the stories behind the menu.

Expect good music, conversation, generous flavours and a relaxed evening around the table.

Come on your own. Come with someone. Either way, you are joining the table.

Translation, Not Fusion

At the heart of Chef Dumebi's cooking is a simple idea: Translation, Not Fusion.

The intention isn't to make West African food into something else.

It is to understand the foundations of the food, respect where it comes from and explore what else can be expressed through it.

Food travels. Technique remembers.
